[Breaking News]Small tsunami recorded in areas along Japan's Pacific coast

Wakayama , Japan Kyodo - Video taken in Wakayama on Dec. 3, 2023,Small tsunami were observed in areas along Japan's Pacific coast early Sunday following a 7.7-magnitude earthquake off a southern Philippine island, Japan's weather agency said.Tsunami up to 40 centimeters in height were measured at Hachijo Island in the Izu chain near Tokyo and up to 20 cm for some other islands in the chain, while surges of 20 cm were also seen in coastal areas of Wakayama and Kochi prefectures in western Japan after warnings were issued for the areas.

CHIBA, Japan - Three types of metal bracelet which a Tokyo health appliances company allegedly sold by claiming they help blood flow have no health benefits, police say. Chiba police on Nov. 6 arrested Minoru Kajimoto, the company's president, and six former employees on suspicion of swindling 18 people out of 6.8 million yen by selling them the bracelets. The police believe the company took in some 2.45 billion yen by selling the bracelets to roughly 8,200 people in 40 prefectures from January 2004 to April this year. The bracelets in the photo were shown to the media at the Kamagaya police station in Chiba Prefecture on Nov. 6.

Anyone under 40 and supporting themselves on part-time jobs is eligible to join the ''Shutoken Seinen Union'' (metropolitan area youth labor union) for a membership fee of 1,500 yen a month. Manabu Natori (R), 27, a part-time hospital clerk, became the union chief and 24 other workers aged between 19 and 36, most of them part-timers at fast-food shops, have joined it.
